Dr. Douglas Reid is the owner of Superior Smiles Family and Cosmetic Dentistry in Dallas, Texas. A San Francisco Bay Area native, he moved to sunny San Diego to attend the University of California at San Diego, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology. Dr. Reid received his Doctorate of Dental Medicine at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee.
As the child of a successful cosmetic dentist, he never imagined following in his mother’s footsteps. After finishing his undergraduate degree, he found that his long-held dream of becoming a surgeon no longer sounded like the work he wanted to do — he loved interacting with people in addition to the technical aspect of surgery. Dr. Reid turned to dentistry, which is a perfect fit, giving him the fulfillment of getting to know and love patients while attending to their oral health and aesthetic needs.
Dr. Reid is passionate about lifelong learning. He attends lectures throughout the United States, where he focuses his studies on Full Mouth Rehabilitation and Cosmetic Dentistry. He is committed to providing minimally invasive dentistry solutions for patients’ needs, preserving healthy natural tooth structures while delivering beautiful smiles. He is an active member of the Academy of General Dentistry and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.
Since moving to Dallas in 2019, Dr. Reid has been an active member of his church family and community. An artist at heart, Dr. Reid and his wife spent two years designing and restoring their historic home in Old East Dallas, where their doors are always open to friends, family, and neighbors. He is dedicated to an active lifestyle and enjoys playing tennis and basketball and exploring new destinations all over the world. On the weekends, you can find him perusing dental publications or cheering on the Golden State Warriors with his wife and daughter.
Dr. Roberts’s practice is primarily focused on extracting wisdom teeth and on placing dental implants—both done safely and comfortably using IV (moderate) sedation. During the course of his career, he has treated over 30,000 patients.
Dr. Roberts received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the University of Illinois Dental School in 1985. He then spent two years in a dental residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio (UTHSCSA).
Dr. Roberts has been practicing dentistry in Dallas since 1987 and received the “Young Dentist of the Year” award in 1990 from the Dallas County Dental Society (DCDS). He also served on the DCDS board of directors from 1992-1996 and as president of the North Texas Dental Society in 2005-2006. Currently, he is a Fellow of the American Association of Hospital Dentistry (FAAHD).
Additionally, Dr. Roberts served for over a decade as an adjunct assistant professor at the UTHSCSA, and he lectures nationally in the areas of dental surgery and IV sedation. Throughout his career, he has actively advocated for improvements in both dental safety and access to care in numerous venues. He also co-founded the Koerner Center for Surgical Instruction, which provides continuing education training courses in oral surgery to dentists across the country.
Dr. Roberts and his wife, Kristal, stay quite busy with their four children, six dogs, and two horses. They are both life-long, avid tennis players who truly enjoy enriching the lives of their family, friends, and community.
